C.C. Designs Challenge One: Olivia's Apple

So this is my first blog post to my “new” site. I feel that it is time for me to grow as an artist and to do so means I have to be proud of the work I do. I will still post cards that I am just trying to figure out or am still learning how to do a technique or just want to play (on my old blog- www.scrapshackanyone.blogspot.com) but for now this is my new stomping ground!

I am proud to say that I was asked to help manage the
C.C. Designs Digital Challenge Site. This is a huge honor, not just for the obvious reasons, but also because I have followed this site for a very long time and LOVE Amy R’s videos. She has inspired me to look into creating videos myself….stay tuned for that endeavor…lol

My baby starts school this year and I am sad that she is going to school because that is one more year closer to growing up…sniffle sniffle. This lead me to the first Digital Challenge….Back to School. I loved using Olvia’s Apple because she is just darling. The sentiment was perfect for the image and they were instantly paired.

I used a bunch of supplies to complete this card and loved that the color combination is not always found together(orange, brown and red with a touch of yellow). I used a stencil and ink to start the burst on the card base then, I got to work using my copics to color Sweet Olivia. The colors I used are as follows:

Hair: E11, E13, E15, E18
Skin: E04, E11, E00, E000, R20 (cheeks)
Clothes: YR14. YR24, YR27
Shoes: E13, E15
Apple: R22, R24, R46, R39, YG06, YG17

I used a paper pad I have had for awhile and paper pieced the headband bow and shirt. The brown circle was dry embossed with a cuttlebug folder. I wanted some dimension but felt that dimensionals were not quite enough….so I thought about the rosette being dimensional and cute. To finish the card for the teacher I placed a few red sequins, layered some flowers and punched a butterfly. I printed the sentiment from the computer and used gelatos to feather or lightly color the paper to match the rest of the card. I had used Stickles on her dress and thought the star bursts would be cute if they matched the middle flower. I love the Maya Road Wrinkle Ribbon that I purchased from C.C. Designs (Loooove it), I tied a simple knot around the ribbon and poked a white heart pin for the middle and Voila….Bob’s your Uncle (from where I’m from that means your done)…no offence intended to the Bob’s of the world…Not even Bob the Builder.
